Greg Abbott isn't fit to clean toilets, let alone be governor. What could he possibly know about mental health? Anyone who doesn't support assault rifle bans in the face of ongoing mass shootings is hardly a paragon of mental virtue.
Anyway, yes lack of money/being poor, causes day in and day out stress...the threat of becoming homeless, the loss of a low paying job, no decent health care; it all adds up as you said and of course it affects one's mental health because that's what long term stress does.
There’s “being happy with what you don’t have” and also realizing that some things are needs, and you actually can’t be happy without them.
Budgeting is a major issue of mine, thanks for your article...many good points.
On suicidality and poverty ...yes, they do go hand in hand, and the mind wanders...but you start to remember all the things there IS to live for...that changes can be made
For me I’m gonna try my fuvking hardest to go back to school in the fall, I’ve considered taking online classes but never actually tried doing that....
So maybe for me, once again..v poor...I should try other things instead of just thinking about it and shooting myself down
Being poor is actually the worst most degrading thing...not being able to have access to clean drinking water...puts you infront of yourself.
You can accept THAT, or you can accept that you’ve gotta get the fuck up and make some changes
Very well stated, Joan. While there's certainly a murderous element to what we saw in Texas, I always remember these shootings include suicide. Suicide happens when people don't see a way out of their personal predicament, i.e. poverty.
Absolutely. It takes a great deal of faith to not be overcome.

Money is the one thing we all either do or don’t have in common...but it’s one thing that controls us to no end...
It’s like there’s a price on a persons life, and once the price hits the negatives they’re tossed to the side...
Pride has a lot to do with it...it’s like you know you need help but you’re too proud to say you’ve fucked up royally
As an impoverished villager myself,,
