17-Year-Old Hillsborough High School Student Dies

A Hillsborough High School student had recently celebrated his birthday only two weeks prior, according to GoFundMe.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Not even two weeks since celebrating his 17th birthday, a Hillsborough High School student has died, school officials confirm.

The student had recently celebrated his birthday on Dec. 29, 2021. He died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 2:15 p.m., according to one of two GoFundMe fundraising sites set up for his family.

Described as "an amazing young man", the student was well-loved by many including his parents and his two younger brothers.

"The love and joy that [the boy] brought to them and everyone that knew him will never be forgotten. [He] had a big heart and his personality and smile was compelling beyond words," according to the GoFundMe site.

Family and friends said the student loved ice hockey, especially the New Jersey Devils. He also loved playing video games with friends online and cats. He was a true animal lover.

"He didn't mind rescuing an animal in need," according to the GoFundMe site.

Following his death, two fundraisers were started to help the family offset the cost of the funeral arrangements, which are still being finalized.
