We're celebrating two years of our private label, Odds & Ends! From humble beginnings with a handful of pantry basics, to a full line of snacks and kitchen staples, we’re constantly working to expand our offering and reduce food waste. Give our blog a skim to see how Odds & Ends has helped us move raw ingredients “up” the Wasted Food Scale—we’ve got the numbers to prove it.

A lot has changed since our first spotlight by CNBC in 2021, so we were grateful for the opportunity to share our latest chapter of growth with the viewers of “Last Call” yesterday. Check out #MisfitsMarket CEO & Founder Abhi Ramesh chatting with Brian Sullivan to hear more about how we help consumers save money by fighting food waste. (PS: don't miss what happens at the 4:00 mark that made Abhi go “Oh wow"!)

Since day one, we've designed our business to be deliberately different. Misfits Market is the only nationwide grocer that actively partners with farmers and manufacturers to save food from waste—to the tune of 500,000 pounds of food (on average) that we save from a lesser outcome each week. Our mission is to reduce food waste and make shopping for sustainable, high-quality groceries easier and more affordable for all customers. Our dedication to #StopFoodWaste has big ripple effects: it also helps us avoid wasting water and carbon emissions. In fact, we're mindful of resources at every level of our business, from our Zero Waste Initiative in our fulfillment centers to our Packaging Return Program and efficient last-mile delivery. ICYMI, check out our first-ever Impact Report (and visit our blog for a whole lotta ways you can reduce food waste at home, too).

When Imperfect Foods joined the #MisfitsMarket family, we pledged to increase our #impact together. Now on #EarthDay, we have proof of that promise: We just published Misfits Market’s first-ever Impact Report! Some of the biggest moments from 2023 are captured in this report, including the food, water, and emissions our customers helped us save, the TRUE Zero Waste Gold certification of our Clackamas, Oregon facility, the packaging we collected for recycling and reuse through our Packaging Return Program, the impact we’ve made through our private label items, and so much more. We’re proud to be deliberately different in everything we do, from sourcing to delivery—and it’s all thanks to the contributions of our amazing team. Check out this wrap up from Progressive Grocer 👇

Reimagining the food system goes way beyond our own grocery platform. Today we announced that we’re opening up our unique supply chain to Gopuff to power the on-demand delivery app's new Fresh Grocery offering. Misfits Market is supplying more than 300 items, including fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy, meat, bread and more, allowing us to rescue even more food together. This is just the start as we continue to leverage our purpose-built infrastructure to power the perishables industry. “We’ve always had, I think, this long-term view that the operational infrastructure in the supply chain that we have built, specifically around perishable products, is a core competency,” our Founder and CEO Abhi Ramesh told PYMNTS. “They are something that a lot of other companies don’t have but want. … We are, in a sense, building the Amazon for perishables.” Reach out to wholesale@misfitsmarket.com to learn more! #supplychain #perishables #groceryindustry #d2c

When you shop at Misfits Market, you don't just help us build a more sustainable food system. You can also discover brands that are doing their own great work to bring more accessibility and inclusivity to the industry, like Partake Foods. We're lucky to have hosted their founder and CEO Denise Woodard for a recent fireside chat that left our team inspired and energized for days afterward. Watch to hear how she got started, the challenges and joys she's encountered as a Black and Asian woman founder, and what's up next.

Those holiday-themed treats in our store aren't a mistake! Thanks to Senior Category Manager Jessie Kimsey, they're actually part of our strategy to minimize wasted food across the board.

Not only is packaging a hassle to get rid of, it's also yet another source of waste. That's why we teamed up with Imperfect Foods and Dispatch Goods to debut our packaging return program, and why we're taking a look at our impact now. To date, we've collected over 10 million pounds of packaging (with the help of our customers and drivers!) for reuse and recycling, and alongside Imperfect we're still the only grocer to offer free packaging return nationwide. The word is out: We’re thrilled to officially announce Misfits Market’s expansion into perishable fulfillment with our newest business unit, Fulfilled By Misfits (FBM). After perfecting our operations capabilities at Misfits and Imperfect Foods over more than 12 years combined, we’re set to revolutionize the perishable industry as a fulfillment provider, growth facilitator, and scale accelerator for growing D2C brands by leveraging the power of the Misfits Market platform and our state-of-the-art fulfillment centers. FBM helps perishable brands save themselves needless complication, cost, and distraction from business fundamentals that come with DIY or other expensive turnkey options. Over the past year, our team has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to empower consumer brands like Spot & Tango, Little Spoon, and Cometeer to unlock their full potential through our customizable, tech-forward solutions. We’re grateful for their early support, as well as that of our team members who have brought FBM to life as we continue to grow our first-party grocery business. Know of a perishable business that needs more efficient, cost-effective solutions to scale faster? Reach out to us at fulfilledbymisfits.com!
