Houston's playoff game Friday night has been postponed after the death of sophomore defensive lineman Jamarcus Hall.

Houston was scheduled to play Senatobia in the first round of MHSAA Class 4A playoffs. The game is now scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The cause of death was not immediately clear.

"We're all just in shock right now and saddened by the loss," Houston football coach Baylor Dampeer said.

"(Hall) means a lot to the guys that he played with. He played ball with those guys a long time growing up. It's a really close group. We'll carry heavy hearts going forward just knowing what he meant to them. He's a kid that had a bright future."

The 6-foot-5, 296-pound sophomore prospect had an offer from Mississippi State, according to Dampeer.

Mississippi State football coach Mike Leach tweeted his condolences for the football team Friday afternoon.

"Thoughts and prayers for Houston High School and their football community," he said.

Hall played in two games for Houston (8-2) this season and recorded two tackles, according to MaxPreps

"There's not really any words that can make any of it better," Dampeer said. "So you just try to be there for them the best you can.

"Just try to be there for the kids, coaches and anyone else who may need that. Not a lot of words in this kind of time. Just being with each other and that camaraderie of a team."
